It was announced late Friday evening that the second trade has taken place before Tuesday’s deadline. Here are the details :

To Chicago Bears : (DE)Gaines Adams
To Tampa Bay Buccaneers : Bears 2010 2nd Round Draft Pick

This was a great move by the Bears….and honestly for the Buccaneers as well. At the end of this year, Bears (DE)Adewale Ogunleye and (DE)Mark Anderson contracts both expire. We will not be able to re-sign them both, so this problem is now solved for next year. Trading away a 2nd Round Draft Pick was a risky move, but if you factor in that Gaines Adams was the 4th overall draft pick in the 2007 draft, and is only 26 years old, it takes away much concern. In his first 2 seasons with the Buccaneers, Adams racked up 12 1/2 sacks and played in the same defensive scheme that the Bears are running with now. Bears defensive coordinator will surely bring out even more in Adams production. The Bears are now without their 1st and 2nd round draft picks in 2010, but getting talent such as Jay Cutler and Gaines Adams is surely worth it. The best part is they are both still young and have already proved they can play in this league. The Buccaneers will likely start (DE)Stylez G. White in the place of Gaines Adams.
